Prayer

priest praying in churchGrant Lord, the grace of fidelity and sensitivity to all Married People.

Help those who are Single to find in Jesus their lifelong companion and friend and to be generous with their time and talents.

May those whom you call to enter the priesthood, diaconate, or consecrated life, have the generosity to answer your call and be zealous for your Gospel.

Amen.

Lord, may I grow in consideration towards others, honesty to myself, and faithfulness to you. Make me generous enough to want sincerely to do your will whatever it may be.

Help me to find my true vocation in life and grant that through it I may find happiness myself and bring happiness to others.

Amen.

O Lord, you search me and you know me, you know my resting and my rising, you discern my purpose from afar.
You mark when I walk or lie down, all my ways lie open to you.

For it was you who created my being, knit me together in my mother’s womb.
I thank you for the wonder of my being, for the wonders of all your creation.

O search me, God and know my heart. O test me and know my thoughts.
See that I follow not the wrong path and lead me in the path of eternal life.

From Psalm 138 (139)

A Prayer for Vocations to the Priesthood and Consecrated Life for England and Wales.

Lord,

Make me a better person,

more considerate towards others, more honest with myself, more faithful to You.

Make me generous enough to want sincerely to do your will whatever it may be.

Help me to find my future vocation in life and grant that through it I bring happiness to others and find happiness myself.

Grant, Lord, that those whom You call to enter the Priesthood or Consecrated Life may have the generosity to answer Your call, so that those who need Your help may always find it.

I ask this through Christ Our Lord, Amen.

St Paul’s Prayer that the sense of Vocation in all our lives will deepen and come to maturity in Christ.

This, then, is what I pray, kneeling before the Father,

from whom every family whether spiritual or natural, takes its name.

Our of His infinite glory, may he give you the power through his Spirit for your hidden self to grow strong, so that Christ may live in your hears through faith, and then, planted in love and built on love, you will with all the saints have strength to grasp the breadth and length, the height and depth; until knowing the love of Christ, which is beyond all knowledge, you are filled with the utter fullness of God.

Glory be to Him whose power, working in us, can do infinitely more than we can ask or imagine; glory be to him from generation to generation in the Church and in Christ Jesus for ever and ever. Amen.

Lord Jesus

The ministry of priests is a sign of your unfailing care.

Call from among us the priests needed for the Church of today and tomorrow.

Bless all students for the priesthood.

Grant them joy, wisdom, courage and a generous spirit.

Sustain priests with a real sense of your love and the support of those they are called to serve. Keep them faithful to their calling.

Amen.

Loving Father

Thank you for the gifts you have given me, life, faith, family and friends.
Shine your light so that I may see the path that leads to you.

Help me to make those choices which respond to your personal love for me,
so that I may become more fully the person you call me to be.

Amen
