This seminary originates from the College established in Douai in 1568. It has students from the Archdiocese of Westminster, and the Dioceses of Northampton, Nottingham, Plymouth and Portsmouth together with a number of overseas students. It has six members of staff who are resident and twelve who are part time. In addition to the normal in-house formation course the College offers the STB degree qualification of the Catholic University of Louvain, Belgium. The length of the course is usually six years.

Some students also study at Heythrop College of the University of London and work for such degrees as B.D, MA, MTh.

In addition to the academic courses and the spiritual formation students are also involved in pastoral formation programmes in parishes and other specialised placements both during the academic year and in the summer vacation.

Like Allen Hall Ushaw dates back in foundation to Douai which was founded in 1568. It was established on its present site in 1808. It has students from the following eight dioceses in the north of England; Hexham & Newcastle, Hallam, Lancaster, Leeds, Liverpool, Middlesborough, Salford and Shrewsbury.

There are twelve full time members of staff and four part time members.

The College offers the full formation and education courses for seminarians BA (Hons) degree in Theology and Ministry for seminarians and lay students; BA and MA in Theology and the MA in Theology and Ministry. All these degrees are validated by the University of Durham.

The course is six years in duration with three of these years devoted to the degree work by some students. Students also receive spiritual and pastoral formation with pastoral placements both during the terms and the vacation period.

Ushaw is also the home to a developing conference centre; the Marian Study Centre, the regional Office of CAFOD; the headquarters of the Oecumenical Course for the North East (NEOC). The College is also currently exploring how best to become an ‘Institute of Mission’ in the north of England.

Saint John’s Seminary was founded in 1891.

Currently Wonersh has students from the Archdiocese of Southwark and the Dioceses of Arundel & Brighton, Brentwood, Cardiff, East Anglia, Portsmouth and Plymouth.

There are ten full time members of staff and twelve part time staff.

Saint John’s is an Accredited Institution of the University of Surrey and offers the following degree courses; M.Th., B.Th. (Hons) – full and part time; Dip.Th., C.C.R.S., together with flexible course packages according to the needs of the student.

The length of course is usually of six years length for seminarians with some flexibility according to previous study and experience.

As at all seminaries the students receive spiritual and pastoral formation with pastoral placements being allocated both during term and vacations.

The College is situated in the Archdiocese of Birmingham and primarily serves that region. It also receives students from many other English dioceses as well as Cluj, Poitiers and Tronheim.

There are eight full time members of staff and eleven part time.

Like other seminaries the College offers the following courses: Scripture, Foundational Theology, Systematic Theology, Hebrew, Greek, Latin, Sacramental Theology, Liturgy, Philosophy, Pastoral Theology, Human Development, Homiletics, Spiritual Theology, Church History, Public Speaking, Communications.

The Course work during Year 1 to 3 is validated by the University of Birmingham for BA in Applied Theology and the course work during years 4 to 6 is validated by the Catholic University of Louvain for the STB.

In addition to the ongoing Pastoral Placements there is an extended one in the first part of Year 4.

Saint Mary’s, Oscott is situated in the centre of England in the suburbs of a large industrial city. It is a beautiful Grade II listed building in extensive grounds, Its proximity to the city means it is able to offer the possibility of a variety of pastoral placements.
